English Language Courses
At TII we offer both academic and general English language courses suited to students of all skill levels. These classes are run by experienced and qualified teachers who want to help you develop your knowledge, skills and confidence when using English Language.  Classes are small in size and learning outcomes came be better tailored to the individuals needs and/or future career goals.   Placement tests can be arranged, to determine your current level and estimate how long you need to study to reach your goals.  If you are already in Christchurch, you can join us for a free trial class, simply contact us to arrange a suitable time. English Language Courses

Academic Discourses (Level 4)
This is a specialist english language course for students wishing to study at post graduate level or study towards specialist language tests ie OET or IELTS. For over 20 years TII has offered this programme to 100's of international qualified nurses and advanced students helping them to prepare for the Occupational Test of English (OET) or towards their IELTS test. Highly practical and applied, our skilled and experienced tutors help students, who are close to meeting the required language levels to focus on key skills as the develop comprehensive language skills and / or prepare for academic study. The programme also covers aspects of Maori culture, the regulatory framework and requirements for professional practice. Intake: 3 intakes per year (Please contact us for furthur information) Duration:26-week programme (includes a 2-week holiday break) Entry Criteria: IELTS 5.5 in all bands or equivalent. Prior study overseas at degree level or equivalent. Career Progression: Students who complete this course often go on to sit the OET or IELTS test exams and then onwards to higher level study via a Competency Assessment Programme (Nurses) or Post Graduate Study (ECE).

New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology - Technical Support (Level 5)
This NZQA approved programme is one year long and prepares students to work in the fast paced Technical Support area. This in demand sector is looking for students with a combination of great customer service and solid IT / Networking and problem solving skills. Taught at our city centre location by lecturers who are experienced in tech support this is a great way to kick start your career in the IT industry. Programme Courses: Computer Networks, Operating Systems Principles, Database Design and Administration, IT Technical Support, Systems Technology, Software Engineering Fundamentals, Programming Principles, IT Professional Practices. Duration: 1 year full-time study, which totals 120 NZQA credits Intake: 3 intakes per year (Please contact us for further information) Academic Entry Requirements:        Domestic: Successful completion of NCEA Level 2, including 12 credits in Numeracy (excluding statistics), and a minimum of 12 Literacy credits at NCEA Level 1, or above; International: Successful completion of one year of tertiary study in the fields of IT and/or one year work experience within the industry. English Requirements:              IELTS: Overall band of 5.5 with no individual band less than 5.    PTE: 42 overall score - with no band score lower than 36.     TOEFL IBT: Overall score of 46 (with at least 14 in Writing).   *Other approved English language assessments as listed by NZQA under Appendix 1 of the PAA Rules that are of an equivalent level. New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology - Technical Support (Level 5)

New Zealand Diploma in Construction (Level 6)
This national qualification is taught over two years, with students having the option to specialise in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management. Using experienced staff and access to a range of work sites, this highly applied programme is a great way to leverage your existing interest or study in construction or finance into an advanced level qualification. Students will have access to NZIQS and NZIoB workshops to help strengthen their knowledge of this fascinating high value sector. Pathways with advanced standing on to bachelor degrees are available for students wishing to continue their study.   Construction Management Programme Courses: Year One: Construction Industry in New Zealand, Structural Principles and Material Properties, Site Analysis for Construction, Small Building Construction, Building Law, Medium and Large Building Construction, Feasibility and Environmental Impact, Small Building Measurement. Year Two: Financial Administration, Construction Industry Procurement, Construction Approaches in Medium and Large Buildings, Project Management for Medium and Large Buildings, Site Project Management, Construction Planning for Medium and Large Buildings, Building Services, Measurement of Services and Civils, Practicum (160 hours of industry placement). Quantity Surveying Programme Courses: Year One: Construction Industry in New Zealand, Structural Principles and Material Properties, Estimation for Small Buildings, Small Building Construction, Building Law, Medium and Large Building Construction, Feasibility and Environmental Impact, Small Building Measurement Year Two: Financial Administration, Construction Industry Procurement, Estimation for Medium and Large Buildings, Project Management for Medium and Large Buildings, Cost Planning, Measurement for Medium and Large Building Projects, Building Services, Measurement of Services and Civils, Practicum (160 hours of industry placement). Duration: 2 years full-time study, (240 NZQA credits) Intake Dates:  - 26 February 2024, 8 July 2024, 18 November 2024. Academic Entry Requirements:        Domestic: Successful completion of NCEA Level 2, including: 12 credits in Mathematics (excluding statistics), a minimum of 12 literacy credits at NCEA Level 1, or above. International: Successful completion of one year of tertiary study in the fields of either architecture, business, construction or quantity surveying and/or one year work experience within the industry.  Students holding an overseas High School Diploma will be required to undertake and interview with the TII Principal as a further condition to their acceptance. English Requirements:              IELTS: Overall band of 6.0 with no individual band less than 5.5.   PTE: 50 overall score - with no band score lower than 42.     TOEFL IBT: Overall score of 60 (with at least 18 in Writing).        *Other approved English language assessments as listed by NZQA under Appendix 1 of the PAA Rules that are of an equivalent level.
