New Zealand Certificate in English Language (ESOL)

Duration: An enrolment for two weeks or more.

Tuition Fees: NZ$395/week (part-time options available)

ABOUT THE COURSE

At TII we offer both academic and general English language courses suited to students of all skill levels. These classes are run by experienced and qualified teachers who want to help you develop your knowledge, skills, and confidence when using English Language. 

Classes are small in size and learning outcomes for students to develop a strong English foundation for further study, employment, and everyday life in New Zealand. Our classes are small, relaxed, and friendly, with a high level of student support. There is a Pre-Beginner/Beginner Level Class and a Post Beginner/Elementary Level Class.

Courses delivered Monday to Friday.

9am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm.

25 hours per week

(full-time with part-time options also available)

Level 1

ELEMENTARY

Students will have a basic knowledge of English grammar structures will be able to produce simple English discourse and would be ready to sit the Cambridge KET Exam. This course will form the basis for further study in either a secondary or tertiary context.

Level 2

UPPER INTERMEDIATE

Students would be able to sit the Cambridge FCE Exam and we would expect them to achieve an IELTS overall band score of between 6 and 7.

Level 4

ACADEMIC 

This course is designed for students wishing to gain Band Scores into the 8 Range of IELTS or those who require critical thinking and academic skills for university or higher learning. 

Level 2

INTERMEDIATE

Students will have expanded their passive and active knowledge of grammar and can produce discursive work at a greater level. They can sit for the Cambridge PET Exam and we would expect them to achieve an IELTS overall band score of 5.

Level 3

ADVANCED

Students will have the skills necessary for negotiating academic discourse. We would expect them to achieve an IELTS overall band score of 7 at the Cambridge CAE Exam.
