Last week TII hosted a visit by Lan Lan, Health Promoter and MVE Coordinator at Asian Family Services. TII also invited AKA Education, Mike Hearn his team and students to join on the day.
Lan kept the presentation interesting by covering the range of services available through the Te Whatu Ora funded programmes as well as providing some helpful techniques to deal with anxiety and stress.
The free clinical and public health services are offered through diverse professional teams including: Registered counsellors, Social workers, Cultural Support Workers, and
Public Health Practitioners. These teams provide linguistically and culturally appropriate mental health and addiction harm minimisation services and include services for people and their families affected by gambling harm.
Lan’s message connects strongly with the Culture of Care at TII and is part of a range of events, presentations and activities that are offered to staff and students of TII. It was also great to be joined by our friends at AKA Education.
